The VisionA safe environment for every child

GAGV works to reduce gun violence to keep our children safe at home, at school, and in the community.

Grandparents Against Gun Violence is NOT against guns. We are FOR gun safety. We recognize the rights afforded by the Second Amendment, and also support solutions promoting the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, including the right to feel safe.

About GAGV

Grandparents Against Gun Violence (GAGV) began in 2013 as a result of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., which claimed the lives of 20 children and six staff members.

GAGV works to reduce gun violence to keep our children and grandchildren safe at home, at school, and in the community, with focus on the Kansas City metropolitan area. GAGV is an all-volunteer standalone 501(C)(3) organization.

Since its inception, GAGV has grown to over 200 dues-paying members and a database that reaches over 1,000 people. GAGV hosts monthly meetings attended by an average of 50-60 inspired and passionate constituents with program topics ranging from current gun-related legislation, advocacy, conflict resolution school safety and gun safety.

Representatives from GAGV participate in numerous community activities including the Mayor’s Task Force on Gun Violence, the Women’s Rally at Washington Park, demonstrations to commemorate the anniversary of Sandy Hook and National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and the annual Community Forum presented by our Heartland Coalition Against Gun Violence.
